FAQ

How long have you been in business?

Bartwood has been in business since 1981.

Does your company specialize in restoration, or is it a sideline for you?

Bartwood is one of Southern California’s premier leaders in Insurance Restoration of homes.  By concentrating on this highly specialized field, it enables us to provide you the highest level of craftsmanship for your property’s restoration and renovation.

What is the difference between a restoration contractor and a regular contractor?

Many contractors are fully qualified to construct an addition, a new home or a variety of remodeling projects.  But Insurance Restoration requires not only years of hands-on experience, but also considerable amounts of highly specialized training and equipment.

Are you properly licensed, bonded and insured?

Yes.  License # 592681.

How can I check on your license?

You can check out all of our registered information with the California Contractors State License Board.  If you use their interactive website at www.cslb.ca.gov , click on “Check A License” in the resource column and enter our license number.

Don’t you work directly for the Insurance Company?

No. We work directly with you; you will sign the contract or work authorization with us, as well as signing the satisfaction of completion of work when we are done.  But, because of our long history in this industry, we can help in dealing with the Insurance Companies.  We know what steps need to occur to help process paperwork and get the necessary approvals.  Also, we maintain the most current form of Xactamate, the Insurance industry standard software, which helps us produce pricing and schedules that are within industry standards.

Why do I have to sign a contract?

The written contract protects you, as it details our agreement to you as to the work being performed, scheduled payment dates and pricing. The contract is a very important document that helps you understand what we have committed to and what is required of you.

When do you get paid?

The financial draw schedule will be included in your contract which details the payment arrangements.  On jobs that do not have a schedule, payment is due at the completion of the work.

Will my mortgage company get involved?

On larger losses, mortgage companies often get involved in the construction process in order to safeguard their financial position. We will assist you wherever we can with determining these requirements, but please remember that your mortgage company in most cases will only deal with you.

How quickly can you get to my property in case of emergency?

Because of the unique nature of each project, there are certain areas that we can respond to faster than others.  To help us best  determine how quickly we can arrive, please call 714-965-7900.

Can you provide me with references from past clients?

Absolutely.  A list of past Bartwood clients can be provided upon request.

What becomes of any non-salvageable contents?

Once your Insurance Company has settled a contents loss with you, the non-salvageable items belong to the Insurance Company and typically they are disposed of. You should contact your Insurance Company for more information.
